This is kind of an FAQ about my music (and thus myself).
Personally, I think it is completely irrelevant to my music, but if you are really curious about who I am, go to my homepage (called "World of LaLa") and then click on "About Me" to read my biography.
To simply put it: sometimes I have a need, or more precisely, an urge for artistic self-expression. To counterbalance my blockheaded geekness (if you've read my biography, you know that I am a software developer) I compose music. To show the world how bad I am at this, I have created this webpage.
When I was in primary school and high school, I used to write poems. They were horrible, but they had one bigger problem: only Hungarians understood them, because I wrote in Hungarian. Then I started to make music on my old, since then long gone Commodore-64 computer, and then on the PC. Now I strongly believe that music is the universal language of Mankind.
Being a person who was brought up with religion in mind, my music is also a prayer to God - for happiness, for peace and for a brighter future, blah-blah-blah.
I compose when I feel like. I compose when I think I have to. I have plenty of musical ideas laying around, but sometimes it takes months to develop them into music. Some ideas never make it into a music. Other times I finished a complete tune in a few hours. If I am in the mood and if I have the inspiration and the time to do it, I sit down and start composing. Since these three things don't always happen at once, I seldom complete a music.
That's up to you to decide which "style" I represent. It may also be different from music to music. Personally, I hate categorization of music. In a music store all of the music should be under one shelf in alphabetical order of composers or titles. There are also a lot of music out there nowadays that do not fit into any categories or that fit into too many categories. Categorization is most of the time not even helpful, and just confuses the heck out of me, when I find an Oldfield album under the Pop/Rock section... Yuck!
It's quite simple:
Does it really matter? I don't drink, I don't use drugs, I don't smoke - so none of those provide inspiration for me, but almost everything else can...
I am not much into the so-called MOD-scene (I've never been into the "scene", anyway), but there are quite a few MOD composers I prefer to listen to. From the older ones, 4-mat and moby have many-many great compositions. I like Soundwave a lot (too bad he has finished making MODs), but I also like to listen to the music of Skaven, Necros, and Purple Motion.
While we are on the subject of MOD composers, I want to talk about the old-old SID-composers, too. Much of today's MOD music (especially the techno ones) are complete crap, therefore I respect those people who made such great melodical tunes on the old Commodore-64 computer's SID sound chip more and more. Namely, Rob Hubbard, Ben Daglish, Johannes Bjerregaard, Jeroen Tel (Maniacs Of Noise), Martin Galway, and Chris Hülsbeck. If you can, download SIDPlay for Windows and some SID-collection, because they are truly unique music. More info on Commodore-64 emulation and SID-music here.
Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis are my absolute favorites. Doesn't matter what they do, they cannot do it wrong and their music is very uplifting, emotional, well-thought... in one word: good! There are also some other composers that I like. Just to name a few: Mike Oldfield, Jan Hammer, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Enigma, Enya, and sometimes even Yanni.
