Jarre's concert opened "The Year of France" in China. The concert
had two parts to it: the main concert took place inside the Forbidden
City and was accessible only to 4000 VIPs, people like Jacques Chirac (prime minister of France)
and Hu Jintao (China's prime minister) and the like. This is the site of the second part of the concert that is
behind Qianmen (Front Gate). This was supposed to be a free public concert, but to our horror we've
discovered that the entire "public" site was cordoned off with yellow tape and was guarded by
a crapload of soldiers all around. We panicked: our entire reason for coming to China was this
concert - and now we won't even be able to attend it???
